Derickson sworn in as state representative

State Representative Tim Derickson (R- Oxford) was sworn in as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives in ceremonies on the first day of the 128th General Assembly Jan. 5.

"I look forward to representing the entire 53rd House District; from the cities of Middletown, Trenton, and Oxford to the townships of Madison, Morgan, Wayne, St. Clair, Hanover, Reily, Oxford, Milford and Fairfield," Derickson said.

Derickson earned an associate's degree in agricultural business from Clark State and a bachelor's degree in administration and management from Miami University. For seven years he worked in healthcare administration and later founded two business located in the 53rd district.

Derickson served as a trustee of Hanover Twp. for nine years and is involved in numerous community boards including Butler County Township Association, Oxford Rotary, and Northwest Butler County Regional Alliance.

He is married to Kelly, and they have two children, Katie, 16, and Matt, 13.

Also taking their oaths of office that day were state representatives William P. Coley II, who represents the 55th House District, which includes portions of Butler County; and Courtney Combs, of the 54th House District, which includes the cities of Hamilton, Fairfield and Ross Twp. in Butler County.

Derickson was elected Nov. 4 and resigned as a Hanover Twp. trustee to take the Ohio House seat.

He was honored by the Hanover trustees on Dec, 10, when he attended his final regular meeting and voted on legislation as a trustee for the last time.

Derickson said that the township has experienced tremendous progress in the development of the fire department, park growth and recreational activities, land use planning, road maintenance and grants in recent years.

He said that he was pleased and proud to be part of an excellent working team of dedicated elected and appointed officials in Hanover Twp.

Trustees Doug Johnson and Fred Stitsinger passed Resolution No. 52-08 recognizing the contributions made by Derickson during his nine years serving as a township trustee and presented him with a framed copy
